NFL Playoff Picture 2019: Which Teams Have Clinched a Spot in the Postseason in Week 16?

Week 16 in the NFL is notoriously crucial when it comes to determining the fate of teams looking to secure a playoff berth, and this year's edition has certainly lived up to that reputation.

Nick Foles has yet again kept Philadelphia's season alive, while the Pittsburgh Steelers' hopes of winning a fourth AFC North in five years appear all but over.

Here's the state of play after Week 16.

NFC

The New Orleans Saints secured home-field advantage throughout the playoffs after beating the Steelers 31-28 and improving to 13-2.

The Los Angeles Rams ended their two-game losing streak with a 31-9 win against the Cardinals. The Rams are now 12-3 but must win against the 49ers in Week 17 to hold off the Chicago Bears and secure a first-round bye.

The Bears improved to 11-4 after winning in San Francisco and travel to Minneapolis next week, needing a win if they're to have a chance of securing second seed.

The Vikings are 8-6-1 after winning in Detroit and currently hold the second wild-card spot in the NFC, but must beat the Bears in Week 17 to make sure they secure it.

The other wild card spot has already been clinched by Seattle, who beat the Chiefs 38-31 on Sunday night and moved to 9-6.

If the Seahawks finish fifth they will play the Cowboys, but if they lose to Arizona on Sunday they could be leapfrogged by the Vikings, which would mean playing either the Bears or the Rams in the wildcard round.

Elsewhere, the Cowboys became the final NFC team to clinch a division title after beating the Buccaneers and improving to 9-6.

Behind them in the NFC East, the Eagles kept their season alive with a 32-30 win over the Texans. The defending Super Bowl champions can't win the divisional title but can still secure a wildcard post, if they beat Washington in Week 17 and the Vikings lose to the Bears.

AFC

The AFC West remains up for grabs, after the Los Angeles Chargers lost at home to the Ravens on Saturday and the Chiefs were defeated in Seattle on Sunday night.

Both teams are 11-4, the best record in the conference, but the Chiefs hold the tiebreaker and a home win against the Raiders in Week 17 will be enough to secure both the divisional title and the number one seed in the conference.

The Chargers must win in Denver on Sunday to have any hopes of leapfrogging the Chiefs in the AFC West. Elsewhere, the Patriots clinched the AFC East title for the 10th consecutive year with a 24-12 over the Buffalo Bills.

New England is now second in the AFC and will secure a first-round bye with a win against the New York Jets next week. Losses for the Chargers and the Chiefs would give the Patriots the chance to win the AFC.

The Texans lost in Philadelphia but secured a playoff spot anyway, thanks to the Steelers' loss in New Orleans. Houston can win the AFC South with a win at home against the Jaguars next week.

The AFC North is also still up for grabs but the Ravens are now in pole position. Baltimore upset the Chargers in Los Angeles on Saturday night to improve to 9-6, before the Steelers lost to New Orleans and slipped to 8-6-1.

The Ravens' chances of winning the AFC North now rest on a divisional match-up against the Browns next week, while Pittsburgh must beat the Bengals and hope either the Ravens lose or the Titans and the Colts tie in Week 17.

Of the two, Indianapolis currently holds the final wildcard spot and it will be a winner-takes-all showdown when they clash in Tennessee next week.
