'Ni no Kuni 2' DLC Release Time: When Can You Download 'The Lair of the Lost Lord' for PS4 and Steam?
The first paid DLC for Ni no Kuni II: Revenant Kingdom, The Lair of the Lost Lord, will be released on December 13 for PS4 and Steam. While we have a good idea when the DLC will drop on Steam, we don't know exactly when the DLC will be available for PS4, but after scouring patch notes, social media and forums, we have some ideas of when's the best time to check.
What's the release time for The Lair of the Lost Lord DLC?
If you plan on playing The Lair of the Lost Lord on your PS4, then I've got some bad news: the PlayStation Store doesn't typically drop DLC at midnight. Full releases sure, but DLC usually isn't available until the morning of the release date. Noon is a common, though not universal, release time.
Ni no Kuni II players on Steam have even more variability when it comes to DLC releases. The previous two updates to Revenant Kingdom were posted at 2 p.m. and 8 a.m. on the day of release, which means a midnight launch for Lair of the Lost Lord is similarly unlikely.
BUT! If our rough translation of Level 5's official Ni no Kuni II website is right, The Lair of the Lost Lord will be available in Japan at 6 p.m., or 4 a.m. EST. It may be early, but that's your best bet if you want to get on the Ni no Kuni II train as soon as possible.
We've reached out to Bandai Namco to confirm both Steam and PS4 download times for Lair of the Lost Lord and will update this article accordingly.
'Ni no Kuni II: Revenant Kingdom' DLC Features
There are more than 80 new items in Ni no Kuni II, but even more substantial are new leveling options for your characters, called Martial Methods. Martial Methods include Gizmo Supremo, which offers Decisive Devices—high-tech, high-damage devices that can be tossed out in battle—and Ding Dong Discipline, which offers King Evan Pettiwhisker Tildrum massive new multi-slash attacks. The DLC also raises the level cap from 100 to 120.
You'll need the extra power, because The Lair of the Lost Lord includes a new, super hard dungeon and character-specific quests. The main attraction is the labyrinth, in which you'll "fight your way down to the deepest depths and rid the world of ancient evil," as the trailer says. In addition to a new boss, the titular lost lord.
New trophies for Lair of the Lost Lord include:
- "All President & Correct," awarded for finding every one of Roland's journal entries.
- "Ding Dong Done," awarded for maxing out Ding Dong Discipline points.
- "Tech It to the Max," awarded for maxing out Gizmo Supremo points.
- "How Low Can You Go," awarded for 100 percent exploration of the labyrinth.
- "Ruiner of Wraiths," awarded for clearing the labyrinth in Hard Mode (or harder).
To access the new dungeon in Ni No Kuni II: Revenant Kingdom DLC The Lair of the Lost Lord you'll need to have progressed up to the game's fourth chapter. The Lair of the Lost Lord is $9.99, or free for anyone who owns the Ni No Kuni II Season Pass.
