U.S. rapper Nicki Minaj will produce and appear in a new comedy show, which will be based on the singer's upbringing, ABC Family announced on Tuesday.

According to celebrity website Deadline, the as-yet-untitled comedy will focus on Minaj's early life, tracking her family's immigration from Trinidad to the U.S. in the 1990s. The series will also explore the singer's life growing up in Queens, New York and her eventual rise to success.

Kate Angelo, producer of several comedy dramas such as Will and Grace, will write the screenplay and serve as an executive producer alongside Minaj, according to Deadline. Other executive producers include Aaron Kaplan, whose Kapital Entertainment will produce the series, Stella Bulochnikov, Brian Sher, and Gee Roberson.

ABC Family's executive vice president of programming and development, Karey Burke, , said in a statement: "Nicki Minaj is a force to be reckoned with at everything she touches. We're beyond thrilled to bring her one-of-a-kind story to our channel. Nicki is an international superstar, yet not everyone knows how inspiring and hilarious her true story is, and we can't wait to share it with the world."

Specific details of Minaj's role and casting in the show are yet to be announced. Minaj has won four American Music Awards, three MTV Video Music Awards and two MTV Europe Music Awards. Minaj's single "Anaconda" set the record for most Vevo views in 24 hours.
