Nintendo Switch Online Membership Can Be Purchased with My Nintendo Points

An update to the FAQ page for Nintendo's Switch Online service has revealed a new way for fans to pay for a membership.

One of the FAQs on the site asks if My Nintendo Gold Points can be used to purchase the Nintendo Switch Online membership. Here's the answer from the official Nintendo site: "Gold Points can be used when purchasing a membership in the Nintendo eShop. They cannot be used for auto-renewal."

For those unfamiliar, My Nintendo Gold Points are earned when purchasing digital or physical copies of Nintendo games. The Gold Points earned equal about five percent of the game's cost if it's digital, or one percent of the cost if it's a physical copy.

The price for the Nintendo Switch online service varies, offering monthly and yearly rates. Here are the pricing tiers for the online service:

  • One month: $3.99
  • Three months: $7.99
