A woman who was captured on camera demanding that a group of Spanish speakers move their car away from outside her house has left her job as CEO of a mental health clinic.

The footage of Lesleigh Franklin in Oakland is the latest taken by Bay Area residents to highlight what they say is evidence of bigotry.

Posted on Facebook by Jordann Cordova, the footage shows Franklin telling the group of people not to park in front of her house.

He posted on the social media platform of how he and his family were going to a party on August 4 when they parked their car in front of Franklin’s house, who came out and “started yelling at us for no reason.”

He said he started filming the interaction as she approached the vehicle and tried to open the door. During the confrontation, she said she was an immigration attorney and threatened to call the police but then backs down on that because “they will take you away.”

When one of the men says he is a resident, Franklin responded “a resident isn’t a citizen.”

“We felt attacked and we know these situations have happened already to black and brown people because of how we look. This woman targeted us AND even questioned our status in this country,” Cordova wrote on Facebook.

Marisol Reyna, Franklin’s co-founder of the East Bay Family Institute which provides mental health services and works with the immigrant community, told the San Francisco Chronicle that she had left her position.

“It’s not appropriate for someone to run it who’s under so much scrutiny,” she said.

But Reyna said the video “is not who [Franklin] is” and does not tell the whole story. Franklin had simply asked the group not to park in front of her house because she wanted to leave the spot open for her, Reyna added.

“Unfortunately Dr. Franklin was just diagnosed with an illness (that) impacted her mental state of mind on that particular day but that’s not an excuse.”

The East Bay Times reported that she was a clinical psychologist who had been working with diverse populations for over 20 years.

It is the latest video from the area of a racial nature that has gone viral recently. One included a woman confronting a group of African-American people having a barbeque near Lake Merritt. Another video showed a white woman, dubbed 'Permit Patty', who called the police on a young girl selling water in San Francisco.
