'Old School Runescape' Mobile Game Release Date Announced
On Wednesday, Old School Runescape developers, Jagex, announced that the iconic MMORPG will release to mobile gamers October 30th. The mobile offering, which has been in a "Members Only" beta on Android since June, will be available to all players on both iOS and Android devices beginning October 30. Jagex confirmed in a press release that Old School RuneScape is available for pre-order from the App Store and Google Play.
OSRS mobile release marks a major milestone for Jagex, said game producer John Colgrave.
"The next few weeks are going to be incredibly exciting for myself, the Old School RuneScape mobile team, and for Jagex as a whole, as we count down towards the 30th October launch date. It's been an incredible journey for us; we've worked tirelessly to bring the full Old School RuneScape adventure to mobile platforms, as well as enable a seamless cross-platform experience for our current, returning, and new players! Today's invitation to Pre-Order and Pre-Register the game on the App Store and Google Play is a hugely significant one, and we can't wait to throw open the doors next month."
A prototype for Old School RuneScape on mobile was first showcased at RuneFest 2017, after which, the development team at Jagex has worked in partnership with the game's community to ensure the mobile iteration offers the same immersive "living game" experience as the original. The game was first released in a "Members Only" beta this June, followed shortly after by a soft launch in Canada and Nordic countries where it saw over 500,000 players download and access the game on their Android devices.
For players who want to get their hands on the mobile version of the game as soon as it releases, head over to the Apple App or Google Play Store to pre-order. The game will be accessible to all iOS users on iOS 10 or above and all Android users running Lollipop (Android 5) and up.
