Oscars 2022 Presenter Jason Momoa Attends Show Just One Day After Surgery

Oscars 2022 presenter Jason Momoa showed just how dedicated he was to presenting the star-studded gala on Sunday, when he attended just one day after hernia surgery.

As the Aquaman star, 42, hit the red carpet at Hollywood's Dolby Theatre, he revealed that a matter of hours beforehand he had undergone the medical procedure.

Speaking with Entertainment Tonight, the actor said: "I had hernia surgery yesterday so I'm a little like... I've got to present eight amazing awards."

According to Cleveland Clinic, a hernia occurs "when an internal organ or other body part protrudes through the wall of muscle or tissue that normally contains it. Most hernias occur within the abdominal cavity, between the chest and the hips."

Elsewhere, Momoa also showed his solidarity with Ukraine amid Russia's ongoing invasion as he complemented his black tuxedo with a blue-and-yellow pocket square, representing the country's flag.

The Oscars were something of a family affair for Momoa, as his stepdaughter, Zoë Kravitz, was also drafted in to present an award at the show on Sunday.

Earlier this month, Momoa said that he and Kravitz's mother, Lisa Bonet, are "still family," weeks after they announced the end of their 16-year romance.

In a since-deleted post shared on Instagram in January, Momoa and Angel Heart star Bonet, 54, announced in a joint statement that they were "parting ways in marriage," four years after exchanging nuptials.

Showing there's no bad blood, Momoa supported Kravitz—Bonet's 33-year-old daughter from her marriage to Lenny Kravitz—at the recent New York City premiere of her movie The Batman, as he revealed that his estranged wife was unable to attend.

When Momoa's interviewer, Rachel Smith, pointed out that his support is "ongoing," despite his separation from Bonet, he said: "It's still family, you know?"

On January 12, Momoa shocked fans when he posted a statement on his Instagram account announcing the end of his marriage to Bonet.

"We have all felt the squeeze and changes of these transformational times," the statement began. "A revolution is unfolding and our family is of no exception... feeling and growing from the seismic shifts occurring. And so we share our family news that we are parting ways in marriage."

"We share this not because we think it's newsworthy. But so that as we go about our lives we may do so with dignity and honesty. The love between us carries on, evolving in ways it wishes to be known and lived. We free each other to be who we are learning to become..."

The statement concluded: "Our devotion unwavering to this sacred life and our Children. Teaching our Children What's possible - Living the Prayer May Love Prevail J & L."
