'Outriders' Update 1.06 Fixes Inventory Wipe Bug, Won't Restore Loot - Patch Notes

Outriders update 1.06 released Thursday morning across PS5, PS4, Xbox and Stadia to address the game's controversial inventory wipe bug that became more common following last week's crash-focused patch. But, while the small download goes a long way toward solving the game-breaking flaw, the game's developers at People Can Fly admit there's still plenty of work left to be done to stabilize its looter shooter. The news was revealed via a recently published post on the game's subreddit.

'Outriders' update 1.06 has just arrived, fixing the game's character wipe bug. Read the full patch notes below. 'Outriders' is available now on PS5, PS4, Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, PC and Stadia. People Can Fly/Square Enix
  • Addresses the bug that has, since the previous update, been causing the inventories of certain players to be wiped.
  • With this new patch, some players may occasionally encounter multiplayer connectivity issues followed by inventory items being momentarily invisible. This is a known and only temporary behaviour that is part of our three-step inventory safeguarding measures.
    • Restarting your game or waiting a few minutes and then restarting your game should make your items appear again.
  • We aim to address the occurrence of these edge cases in a future patch.
  • If you do encounter a wipe that occurs after installing the patch and is not resolved following a game restart, please immediately report this in this Edge Case sub-thread.

Of course, while today's update hopefully prevents the inventory wipe bug from happening in the future, what about those who may have already lost their loot since the deployment of patch 1.05? Unfortunately, People Can Fly remains hard at work on an inventory restoration system that will be a top priority once it's fully confirmed the present fix does solve the character wipe bug in its entirety. If you're one of the unfortunate few players who can't connect to Outriders due to the "could not connect to server" error message, you'll still be blocked from access until the full inventory restoration measure is in place.

In many ways Outriders update 1.06 seems like a half-step in fixing a massive problem for a popular game, but, when the inventory restoration system is in place, it sounds like it'll be smartly implemented. Now that this patch has arrived, players should feel safe continuing their online adventures, as the upcoming restore will add the highest-rarity lost items into any gear you may collect in the coming days. As such, players won't risk losing additional gear by playing now. An exact date and time for the inventory restoration process has yet to be announced, but we'll do our best to relay those details as soon as we have them.

Outriders is available now on PS5, PS4, Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, PC and Stadia.
