Paris Jackson Says Why Coming Out as Bisexual Shouldn’t Matter

Actress and activist Paris Jackson opened up about identifying as bisexual. She explained why her decision to speak out shouldn't be newsworthy.

Jackson, whose father is the late pop icon Michael Jackson, addressed her sexuality Saturday during an Instagram Q&A. "That's what you guys call it so I guess," Jackson, 20, wrote. "But who needs labels."

Jackson's revelation made headlines. But she took to social media to remind the world she's been vocal about her sexual orientation for a while. "EVERYONE HAS KNOWN FOR YEARS," Jackson wrote in a since-deleted tweet regarding a Toronto Sun story.  "I CAME OUT WHEN I WAS 14, WTF."

She continued to elaborate, tweeting: "Like how many pictures are there with me kissing females?????? Jesus, I can count pics of at least 4 different girls that were leaked in the past 6 years. WHY IS THIS A THING."

As she noted on Instagram, Jackson hasn't hidden her interest in women. She's been rumored to be dating model Cara Delevingne, who also identifies as bisexual. In March, the pair were spotted with Jackson's godfather, actor Macaulay Culkin, and his girlfriend, actress Brenda Song, on what appeared to be a double date at the Carlitos Gardel restaurant in West Hollywood. Jackson kissed and held hands with the 25-year-old model during the group's night out. Neither party has confirmed their alleged romantic involvement.

Jackson kissed Caroline D'Amore, a DJ, on the red carpet at the MTV Video Music Awards in 2017. Before that, it was rumored that she was interested in finding women on celebrity dating app Raya, but this has't been confirmed.

Aside from her involvement with women, she's dated members of the opposite sex as well. Before being associated with Delevingne, Jackson dated drummer Michael Snoddy and soccer player Chester Castellaw. Jackson was additionally rumored to be dating 90210 alum Trevor Donovan in July 2017. Although the pair were photographed holding hands, the free spirit insisted via Twitter that "hand-holding is a very common thing."

Despite her not-so-secret past, Jackson doesn't understand why her sexuality has become of interest to the media. "How many times have I publicly referred to the community as 'my fellow LGBTQ+'? Like even on stage. I've been apart of the community for years," Jackson tweeted Monday.

"I even mentioned having crushes on girls when I was 8 in a magazine before. I've been caught kissing girls in public. This is not news," she wrote.
