Paul Pogba's agent has revealed the midfielder's world record transfer to Manchester United was held up by the Frenchman's disappointment at UEFA Euro 2016 failure.

France made it to the final of its home tournament, but lost in agonizing fashion to Portugal in extra time.

Pogba then took a four-week holiday to the United States, while the details of his eventual £89 million ($116.3 million) move to Old Trafford were mapped out.

And now Mino Raiola, who represents some of the world's biggest names, has explained just how deeply the Euro failure affected Pogba and impacted his move to Old Trafford.

"I never spoke about the transfer market with Pogba whilst he was playing at the European Championship, and then he went on holiday because he was very disappointed," said Raiola.

"It was only when I arrived in Miami was it when things were put in motion.

"He explained to me what he wanted. Manchester is his home."

Excitement over Pogba's then looming move to United reached fever pitch when the former Juventus star posted a series of hints on Instagram about the transfer.

It was eventually completed at the start of August, though Pogba was suspended for United's first English Premier League game of the season against Bournemouth, a 3-1 victory, due to yellow cards accrued during his time in Italy.

The 23-year-old has started both of United's subsequent Premier League games, as the club has made a perfect start under new manager Jose Mourinho.
