Manchester United transfer target Paul Pogba has sent a goodbye message to New York as he prepared to fly to the northwest of England for a medical.

Pogba has used Instagram extensively over the past few weeks to document his holiday and his prospective transfer to United. On Sunday, he posted a picture of himself with the tagline, "Bye New York," complete with an aeroplane emoji.

The 23-year-old, who looks set to become the most expensive footballer of all time in a deal worth £89 million ($116 million).

The Juventus and France midfielder was pictured being driven into United's Carrington training ground on Monday ahead of a medical expected to last two days.

He will be returning to Old Trafford four years after he left, in the summer of 2012, having become disillusioned by a lack of first-team opportunities under United's legendary manager Sir Alex Ferguson.
