What Happened To Peta Murgatroyd? Why 'Dancing With the Stars' Pro Canceled Show

Dancing with the Stars pro dancer Peta Murgatroyd apologized to fans via Instagram Sunday for abruptly canceling a stop on her national tour due to a "scary" illness.

Murgatroyd, 31, was expected to perform at a Grand Prarie, Texas, stop on her MAKS.VAL.PETA Confidential tour with her husband Maksim Chmerkovskiy and brother-in-law Valentin Chmerkovskiy. She first suspected her illness to be food poisoning, but it evolved into her inability to feel her arms and legs—ultimately making it difficult for her to walk.

"I need to apologize to the people who attended our Grand Prarie show last night," Murgatroyd wrote on Instagram. "I have never missed a show due to illness in my entire professional dancing career...8 p.m. rolled around and I could hardly walk and I couldn't feel my arms or legs. I had no idea how I was going to walk out that door."

Added Murgatroyd, "The opening music started and I walked out onto [the] stage. I tried my best to dance but my legs were giving out. Apart from it being very embarrassing, it was very scary."

Murgatroyd did not divulge the cause of her sickness. However, she was grateful for the individuals behind-the-scenes who came to her aid last minute in the "crazy situation," including her husband and brother-in-law.

"I am feeling better today and look forward to seeing all of our fans," the Australian dancer concluded. "Thank you for your understanding and support."

Murgatroyd is front-and-center on the MAKS.VAL.PETA Confidential tour. This prominent dancing role follows her small guest appearance on the Our Way national tour, a 46-city act that featured the Chmerkovskiy brothers.

"I made a little cameo in the video of Our Way, but this time I've decided to show these boys how to dance," she said in a statement. "I've performed in the fantastic Burn The Floor on Broadway, and of course on the Dancing with the Stars stage, but in those shows, I'm acting out a love story."

Murgatroyd's representatives did not immediately return Newsweek's request for comment.
