The Philadelphia Phillies' offense desperately needed Kyle Schwarber in 2025, and he delivered.
Schwarber had the best season of his career as he led the National League with 56 homers and 132 RBIs while appearing in all 162 regular-season games for Philadelphia. All year the Phillies' offense had some question marks, but Schwarber was a massive band-aid that helped to fix everything.
Now, he's heading to free agency, though. Philadelphia has been open with the fact that it wants to bring Schwarber back to town. The slugger has sounded open to the possibility of a reunion as well. He bet on himself before the season and delivered a now is due a big raise. Despite all of the buzz around the league right now, ESPN's David Schoenfield still said that "everyone expects" Schwarber to ultimately re-sign with Philadelphia.

"Best fit: Philadelphia Phillies," Schoenfield said. "Everyone expects Schwarber to return to the Phillies, coming off his 56-homer season and with his added value as one of the best teammates in the game. Nothing is guaranteed, however, and president of baseball operations Dave Dombrowski is balancing a lot of decisions this offseason. J.T. Realmuto is also a free agent, Ranger Suarez is a free agent and Zack Wheeler's return is a question, plus the team in general is getting older. But it's still a team in a championship window -- if Schwarber remains in the lineup."
A reunion just makes too much sense. Schwarber has been in Philadelphia for the last four seasons and it has been the best stretch of his career. In Philadelphia, Schwarber has emerged as one of the very best sluggers in baseball. He was always good, but has the four-highest home run totals of his career in Philadelphia with 46 in 2022, 47 in 2023, 38 in 2024, and then 56 in 2025. The 38 is tied with his total from 2019, which was his high mark before coming to town.
A reunion just makes too much sense.
