Christmas trees have begun popping up around the world as the holiday season gets underway.

As turkey and stuffing receded into (Americans') memory and November slipped into December, the world began preparing for Christmas. From the iconic tree at Rockefeller Center in New York City to the National Christmas Tree near the White House in Washington, D.C., the U.S. has lit its landmark evergreens. Around the globe, colorful trees stand in city squares in London, over a lagoon in Rio de Janeiro and in the thick of holiday markets in Berlin and Prague.
