Pokémon Gen 8 Leak? Possible New Pokémon Found in 'Pokémon Go' Code

The Pokémon Company announced a new mainline game will release in 2019, ushering in Generation 8. However, a new sweep of the coding in Pokémon Go may have revealed a new Pokémon that will appear in the 2019 games.

According to Chrales, a well-known dataminer in the Pokémon Go community, he discovered an image that looks like a Pokémon but is unlike anything released in the franchise so far. Take a look at Chrales' tweet below with the possible new Pokémon image.

Spoiler alert! If you don't want to know anything about the next Pokémon games don't proceed.

While the text of the tweet says these models are new Kecleon icons, Chrales clarified what he found in a follow-up saying, " Some more info about the kecleon 'error,' it's labeled as kecleon in pokémongo but unity files are tagged with pokémon 891."

The number "891" is more evidence this may be a new Pokémon from Gen 8. The last confirmed Pokémon to exist in the main games is Zeraora, who is number 807 in the Pokedex, which obviously means this is discovered after it.

Of course, until The Pokémon Company official confirms this is a new Pokémon that will appear in Gen 8 this is just a rumor (albeit a credible one).

Pokémon Let's Go Pikachu and Pokémon Let's Go Eevee is set to release on Nov. 16 for Nintendo Switch, and one of the main features is how it can connect with Pokémon Go. When the games were formally announced, the trailer teased that a never-before seen Pokémon will be able to transfer from Let's Go to Pokémon Go. This led to many fans speculating that this new Pokémon will be the first signs of Gen 8.

What do you think of this possible new Pokémon? Are you hoping it's actually NOT part of Gen 8? Let us know in the comments section below.
