'Pokémon Go' Battle League Season 5: Schedule, Rewards and Every Change

The fifth season of the Pokémon Go Battle League is about to begin and give trainers more ways to battle and more rewards to win.

Starting Monday, the previous Battle League season will end and trainers can claim their Season 4 rewards. Monday will also mark the start of a brand new cup battle format similar to the Halloween and Flying Cups.

As with past Battle Leagues seasons, the rewards have changed and there are mechanical changes to attacks and more that dedicated PVP players will want to know.

Here's the schedule for Battle League Season 5:

  • The Little Cup will run from Monday, November 9, at 4 p.m. to Monday, November 16, at 4 p.m. EST. Only Pokémon that are able to evolve and have not evolved even once are eligible. The CP limit is 500.
  • The Kanto Cup will run from Monday, November 16, at 4p.m. to Monday, November 23, at 4 p.m. EST. Only Pokémon with a Pokédex number between #001 and #151 are eligible. The CP limit is 1,500.

The CP limit is 1,500. Mythical Pokémon—such as Mew, Celebi, Jirachi, and Victini—are not eligible for the Catch Cup.

POKEMON GO BATTLE LEAGUE SEASON 5 REWARDS

Most of the rewards for Season 5 of the Battle League are largely the same. Trainers will earn the Pikachu Libre avatar items after reaching rank 7. Rank 10 trainers will receive an encounter with Pikachu Libre, and the end-of-season rewards will be the same as Season 4.

Stardust will be rewarded to trainers who end the season at rank 1-3, Stardust, TMs and a Premium Battle Pass will be given to those who reach rank 4-10.

Also, starting at rank 7, you'll have a chance to encounter Legendary Pokémon. These Legendary Pokémon will be the same as those appearing concurrently in five-star raids. The rest of the Pokémon you can encounter will remain unchanged from Season 4.

Trainers who finish Season 5 at rank 7 or higher, will receive an Elite Charged TM rather than an Elite Fast TM.

POKEMON GO BATTLE LEAGUE CHANGES

While there will be changes to this upcoming Battle League season, a lot will remain unchanged, including the walking requirement to battle. The Friendship level requirement for battling remotely will also remain the same in Season 5, giving only "Good Friends" this ability.

Rank progression during this season will be based on effort rather than ratings.

  • To reach rank 2, you must complete a certain number of battles.
  • To reach ranks 3 through 10, you must win a certain number of battles.

As for attacks, the following changes will occur in Season 5 of the Pokémon Go Battle League:

  • Incinerate: This Fire-type Fast Attack will initially be available only to Rapidash, Typhlosion, Ho-Oh, Darmanitan and Chandelure.
  • Poison Sting: This Poison-type Fast Attack will now generate more energy, allowing Pokémon like Vespiquen, Drapion and Whirlipede to use their Charged Attacks more frequently.
  • Flame Charge: This powerful Fire-type attack will now be teachable to Rapidash, Entei, Emboar and Chandelure.
