POKEMON GO CHIMCHAR COMMUNITY DAY START TIME

The Pokémon Go Chimchar Community Day event starts Saturday, November 16 from 11a.m. to 2 p.m. local time.

SHINY CHIMCHAR

A big draw for each Community Day is the debut of a new Shiny Pokémon and this weekend, Pokémon Go players will have a chance to find and catch Shiny Chimchar.

Pokémon Go trainers who love to shiny hunt can add three more Shiny Pokémon to their collections as Shiny Chimchar and its evolutions, Monferno and Infernape, will now be in the game as well. During the three-hour event, the odds of finding a Shiny Chimchar are increased. But don't worry if you don't encounter one because it will forever be in Pokémon Go at lower encounter odds.

Trainers will need to interact with Chimchar in the overworld to see if they found a Shiny, and it's not hard to distinguish between the normal and rarer variant. Shiny Chimchar have a more pinkish fur.

BLAST BURN

Every Fire-type Starter in Pokémon Go gets the exclusive move Blast Burn for its own Community Day, and Chimchar is no exception.

As long as trainers evolve Chimchar all the way to Infernape during the event time, the Fire and Fighting-type Pokémon will learn Blast Burn as its Charged move. Niantic gives trainers an extra hour to evolve their Chimchar, so they'll have from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. local time to decide which Pokémon to evolve.

It should be noted that Chimchar caught before the event can learn Blast Burn as long as it evolves during the aforementioned four-hour window.

IN-GAME BONUSES

Like past Community Day events, Lures will last three hours instead of the usual one, but the best in-game bonus this time is the reduced Egg hatch distances.

During the three-hour event window, Eggs will take a quarter of the distance to hatch compared to normal. As a reminder, only Eggs that were popped into an incubator after the event has begun will see their distance reduced. If you have an Egg incubating before Community Day, you'll have to wait until that Egg hatches to begin taking advantage of the reduced distance.

Here are the new Egg distances during this weekend's Community Day:

2km -> .25km

5km -> 1.25km

7km -> 1.75km

10km -> 2.5km
