Dragon Week in Pokémon Go will begin Friday, July 31, at 4 p.m. EDT and end Friday, August 7, at 4 p.m. EDT.

As with many of these events, Dragon Week will provide trainers with timed research tasks to complete. During the week the event is happening, trainers can complete certain missions for items and Pokémon encounters.

We won't know what these tasks are until the event goes live, but Niantic confirmed on its blog that trainers will have two chances at a Deino encounter.

There are currently two known research tasks for Dragon Week. Here they are:

Deino is the first form of Hydreigon, the pseudo-legendary Pokémon of the Unova region. This powerful Dragon and Dark-type Pokémon will be highly coveted during this event, especially since its Shiny form is making its Pokémon Go debut this week.

Shiny Deino changes from blue to green, making it one of the more drastic changes in all of Pokémon.

The chance to find a Shiny Deino is increased during this event, and Deino will appear in 7km Eggs, and will likely be in Raids during the event.

Dragon-type Pokémon will appear more frequently in the wild during the event. This includes Alolan Exeggutor, Horsea, Dratini, Trapinch, Swablu, Bagon and the elusive Gible.

Most of these Pokémon, like Horsea, Dratini, Trapinch, Swablu, Bagon, Gible and Deino will also start hatching from 7km Eggs. And Raids will likely see more Dragon-type Pokémon, but Niantic has confirmed that Rayquaza will return in five-star Raids. We'll update this section once the event goes live.
