'Pokémon Go' Gift Event: Start Time, Shiny Bonsly and Everything You Need to Know

Niantic is launching a new Pokémon Go event today, and this time it revolves around Gifts trainers receive from friends.

The special Gift Event will give Pokémon Go trainers more Gifts to send and receive to friends. If you're adverse to receiving 7km Eggs from friends, you'll be happy to know that the distance to hatch those eggs during this event will decrease.

There's also a chance at obtaining a brand new Shiny Pokémon in Pokémon Go.

POKEMON GO GIFT EVENT START TIME

The Pokémon Go Gift event begins Monday, August 5 at 4 p.m. EDT and ends Monday, August 19 at 4 p.m. EDT.

SHINY BONSLY

Just about every Pokémon Go event, a new Shiny Pokémon will be available to catch. In the case of the upcoming Gift event, trainers will be able to hatch a Shiny Bonsly.

Bonsly is the pre-evolution of Sudowoodo and can only be hatched in 7km Eggs. However, hatching Eggs obtained by friends during the two-week event will have a higher chance of being a Shiny Bonsly.

Shiny Bonsly has its brown coloring changed to a lighter brown and its green leaves become fuschia.

EGG CHANGES

During the Pokémon Go Gift event, Eggs obtained through Gifts will be 2km Eggs. However, the Egg Pool in these special 2km Eggs will contain Pokémon normally found in 7km Eggs.

The current Egg Pool of Pokémon found in 7km Eggs - that will hatch from 2km Eggs obtained through Gifts - are the following:

IN-GAME BONUSES

The in-game bonuses during this event revolves around Gifts. During the two-week event, trainers will have the number of Gifts a player can open daily increased to 30. The amount of Gifts a trainer can carry will also increase to 20.
