'Pokémon Go' Raid Update: Shiny Lickitung Debuts Saturday

The Pokémon Go Valentine's Day event is underway, and a part of the festivities involves a change in Raid Bosses.

Starting Friday, February 14 at 8 a.m. local time and ending Monday, February 17 at 10 p.m. local time, Raid Bosses will include some pink-colored Pokémon, and trainers will have a special Raid Day featuring a debuting Shiny.

Lickitung will be the spotlight Pokémon for the upcoming Raid Day event on Saturday, February 18 from 2-5 p.m. local time, and its Shiny variant will finally be catchable in the popular mobile game.

Trainers will receive five free Raid Passes during the event to give players as many chances at Lickitung as they can possibly have.

LICKITUNG COUNTERS

Lickitung is a pure Normal-type Pokémon and is weak against only Fighting-types. It is resistant to Ghost-type attacks, so don't bring any Pokémon that use those moves.

The Normal-type Pokémon is only a level 2 Raid, so it won't take much to take it down. The lower level gives trainers a better chance at winning and finding a Shiny Lickitung. However, the Raid Day will also feature Lickitung in the Level 4 Raids with the exclusive attack, Body Slam.

Pokémon Go offers many Fighting-type Pokémon, like Machamp, to go against Lickitung. These monsters are possibly the best and easiest to obtain to take into battle.

  • Machamp with Counter and Dynamic Punch
  • Hariyama with Counter and Dynamic Punch
  • Heracross with Counter and Dynamic Punch
  • Blaziken with Counter and Focus Blast
  • Mewtwo with Confusion and Focus Blast
  • Breloom with Counter and Dynamic Punch

POKEMON GO RAID UPDATE

One of the more notable Raid bosses this time around is Chansey in the Level 4 Raids, because of Blissey being a great Gym defender, and Flaaffy in the Level 3 Raids because of Ampharos being a great Pokémon in trainer battles.
