'Pokémon Go' Update: Hoenn Pokémon Reportedly Moving

It seems Pokémon Go is getting ready to shift the locations where certain Pokémon will appear later this month.

According to an official newsletter sent to fans, specific Pokémon from the Hoenn Region will be moved. Pokémon Go players will learn more at the end of the month.

The newsletter reads, "Trainers, we have some news to share! We've heard reports of a migration pattern that could affect the appearance of Pokémon originally discovered in the Hoenn Region. Perhaps, we'll learn more later this month."

Pokémon Go players have begun to deduce what this upcoming migration pattern means, and it seems that some region-exclusive Pokémon will be on the move.

Hoenn Region Pokémon that are regional exclusives in Pokémon Go include the following:

  • Illumise
  • Volbeat
  • Seviper
  • Zangoose
  • Tropius
  • Torkoal
  • Relicanth
  • Lunatone
  • Solrock

The above Pokémon can only be found in certain areas of the world, but some have already shifted since their introductions in Pokémon Go. Lunatone and Solrock swapped areas with the lunar cycle, and Seviper and Zangoose swapped areas shortly after their introductions, though the reasons for that shift are still unknown. Those four Pokémon are linked to each other so their area swapping makes sense. The only other Pokémon on that list who have a connection are Illumise and Volbeat. They are the male and female versions of the same Bug-type Pokémon, and their nests have yet to be swapped in the popular mobile game.

Currently, Illumise is found in North America, South America and Africa while Volbeat can be found in Europe, Asia and Oceania.

Relicanth, Tropius and Torkoal are the Hoenn region-exclusive Pokémon, the equivalents of Farfetch'd, Tauros, Kangaskhan and Mr. Mime in the Kanto Region, and will likely need a large event to swap their locations. The last time region-exclusive Pokémon appeared in other areas was when the aforementioned Gen 1 Pokémon began appearing in 7km Eggs for a timed event.

Once more information is gathered, we'll update this story.
