'Pokémon Go' Weather Week Event: Start Time, Shiny Castform, Field Research and More

Therian Forme Thundurus has wreaked havoc in Pokémon Go Raids for quite some time now, but the weather is shifting with the start of a new event.

Pokémon Go's Weather Week event begins soon, and it will bring not only the debut of Therian Forme Tornadus, but also the shift from electrically charged Pokémon to 'mon who enjoy rainy weather.

Trainers will also enjoy the debut of a new Shiny Pokémon, increased Stardust from catching Pokémon, a shift in the Egg pool, Raids and so much more.

POKEMON GO WEATHER WEEK EVENT START TIME

The Pokémon Go Weather Week event will begin Wednesday, March 24, at 10 a.m. local time and end Monday, March 29, at 8 p.m. local time.

Weather Week is being split between two parts: Rainy and Windy weather.

From the start of the event to Saturday, March 27, at 10 a.m. local time, Pokémon that enjoy rainy conditions—like Vaporeon, Lotad, Stunfisk and more—will be appearing more frequently in the wild.

From Saturday, March 27, at 10 a.m. to Monday, March 29, at 8 p.m. local time, Pokémon that enjoy windy conditions—like Skarmory, Taillow, Pidove and more—will be appearing more frequently in the wild.

POKEMON GO FIELD RESEARCH

Weather Week will bring event-exclusive Field and Timed Research to Pokémon Go. Until the event is live, we won't know the contents of the research, but the official Pokémon Go blog confirms that Rainy Form Castform will be one of the rewards for completing certain tasks.

Now that the event is live in some regions, here's what we know.

Field Research

  • Catch 5 Flying-type Pokémon - Swablu
  • Catch 7 Flying, Psychic or Dragon-type Pokémon - Rainy Form Castform
  • Catch 7 Water, Electric or Bug-type Pokémon - Rainy Form Castform
  • Catch 7 Water-type Pokémon - Tympole

Timed Research

  • Catch 10 Water, Electric or Bug-type Pokémon - Rainy Form Castform
  • Take a snapshot of a Water-type Pokémon - Stardust (x200)
  • Send 3 Gifts to Friends - Psyduck

Completion rewards: Wailmer, Poke Ball (x5), 500xp

SHINY CASTFORM

Castform is the quintessential weather Pokémon of the franchise. This Normal-type Pokémon changes its shape and typing based on the weather. Regardless of whether it's in its Sunny, Hail or Rainy form, this unique Pokémon always brings new strategies for trainers to battle with.

During the Weather Week event, Castform will be appearing more frequently in the wild. Rainy form Castform is most likely to appear in the wild alongside other Pokémon that enjoy rainy and windy weather, like Ducklett and Wingull.

Trainers will also have a higher chance to catch a Shiny Rainy Castform in the wild.

POKEMON GO WEATHER WEEK RAID AND EGG UPDATE

The species of Pokémon that hatch from 5km Eggs during the Weather Week event will shift to include Psyduck, Poliwag, Swablu, Drifloon, Mantyke, Tympole and Ducklett.

As for Raids, the following Pokémon will be appearing during the event:

Level 1: Slowpoke, Tynamo, and more.

Level 3: Swellow, Pelipper, and more.

Level 5: Therian Forme Thundurus.

Mega Raids: Mega Houndoom, Mega Manectric, and Mega Abomasnow.
