'Pokémon Sword and Shield' Galarian Ponyta Shown During Glimwood Stream

The Pokémon community was fixated on the 24-hour livestream of the Glimwood Tangle, and it seems that one new Pokémon was revealed. The new Pokémon appears to be a Galarian form of Ponyta.

Galarian Ponyta has the same form as the original Kanto version, but it has a more rainbow-colored mane. The mane glows while it plays, and its white and purplish-gray coloring indicates it's at least part Fairy-type.

When the stream finished, a note from Sonia was released.

"We saw some interesting Pokémon, didn't we? I'll collect everyone's reports and create a summary for my gran soon. Thanks for the help!"

While Pokémon from older generations popped up here and there - confirming their inclusion in the Galar Dex - there was one Pokémon that was constantly teased throughout the stream.

Speculation started with the reveal of an unidentifiable tail, then we began to hear a cry that sounded like Ponyta's. Viewers would then see blurry images of it, with Impidimp mischievously covering the camera to obstruct the view.

Fans then saw a shadow of the mysterious Pokémon. It looked like a horse, so many Pokémon enthusiasts put the pieces together that a new form of Ponyta was about to be shown.

More brief glimpses of this Galarian Ponyta were shown when two Galarian Ponyta were spotted just before the stream ended.. Check out the best look at Galarian Ponyta below.

Galarian Ponyta joins a handful of other older generation Pokémon receiving new forms in Sword and Shield.

Similar to Alolan forms in Sun and Moon, Galarian forms change a Pokémon's physiology to give it a new typing. So far, we have Galarian forms of Weezing, Zigzagoon and Linoone.

Unlike the Alolan forms, the Galar region has given certain Pokémon a new regional evolution. Galarian Linoone evolves into Obstagoon, and Farfetch'd evolves into Sirfetch'd.

Interesting enough, The Pokémon Company has yet to confirm if there will be a Galarian Koffing or a Galarian Farfetch'd.

This Galarian Ponyta will presumably evolve into a Galarian Rapidash, but might it have another evolution? Fans will just have to wait and see for the full results.

Pokémon Sword and Shield releases November 15 on Nintendo Switch.
