'Pokemon Unite' Patch Notes: New Update Introduces Balance Tweaks and Bug Fixes

Pokemon Unite will be receiving an update tomorrow (Wednesday, August 4) that will add various bug fixes, balancing tweaks and a new spectator mode to the expanding online game.

When Is the 'Pokemon Unite' Update Release Date

According to the official patch notes, the server update will take place this Wednesday at 3 a.m. ET or 12 a.m. PDT.

To apply the patch, you will need to restart Pokemon Unite on your Nintendo Switch device after 3 a.m. ET. You will then be prompted to download the new version of the game.

A test release of the spectator mode will be included as part of the update at launch and will last until 3 a.m. ET on Friday 6 August.

Pokemon Unite: Balancing Tweaks and Bug Fixes

While the "spectate" feature is probably the most exciting change being made to Pokemon Unite this week, the latest patch is mostly preoccupied with implementing balancing adjustments and bug fixes. The patch notes list 49 tweaks to individual fighter abilities, with various cooldown reductions, damage increases and even the odd bit of nerfing (degrading) for certain attacks.

As with the previous update—that introduced Gardevoir as a playable character—Charizard seems to be getting a lot of attention here, with 5 of the changes being made to his moveset alone. Elsewhere, there are also quite a few modifications for the likes of Talonflame, Wigglytuff, Venusaur and Eldegoss, the latter of whom has been slightly nerfed when it comes to their healing powers.

In total, 14 out of the 20 launch Pokemon are being overhauled for this patch.
