'Real Housewives of Atlanta' Star Porsha Williams Pregnant With First Child 6 Years After Miscarriage

Real Housewives of Atlanta star Porsha Williams is about to be a mother. The TV personality announced she was expecting her first child after suffering a miscarriage six years ago.

"When I found out I was pregnant, I was excited [but] I had mixed feelings. The other feeling that I had beside excitement was fear," Williams told People magazine Wednesday.

Williams' first pregnancy resulted in a miscarriage in 2012. The reality star has tried to conceive in the years following but only now has she been successful. Although she said she was thrilled to finally become a mother, her previous pregnancy experiences have left her with some concerns.

"I've had a miscarriage before in my past, which I've also been open about because I suffer from fibroids and had to have a myomectomy," the 37-year-old said. "So just the fear of, 'Is the baby going to be OK? Will I make it full term?' all those questions that you ask if you've had a miscarriage before."

She added: "Going into the first appointment and being able to see the baby and hear the baby and know the baby is fine, then I can really wrap my mind around actually becoming a mommy."

Williams wasn't scheduled to have her first doctor's appointment until after her interview with People. The Dish Nation host confirmed she was "healthy" in an Instagram post officially announcing her pregnancy on Wednesday.

Williams, who joined the cast of RHOA during Season 5, is expecting the child with boyfriend Dennis McKinley. Williams confirmed her relationship with the entrepreneur in July after the duo were spotted together earlier in the summer. "The thought of me getting that blessing after praying for it for so long and getting that blessing with someone who is just as excited as me—it's Dennis' first child, just like me—and it's something we've both always wanted… It's a dream come true," Williams said.

The baby was a "surprise" to the couple, but Williams said since she told her boyfriend she was pregnant their bond has grown even stronger. "The pregnancy came from the left, but it definitely has brought us closer together because you realize when it sets in that you are actually bringing a life to this world, that you have become a family overnight," she said. "So now a lot of things that we had talked about are a reality, and we work hard at wanting to be a good couple and build a strong foundation for our new family that we're going to have."

Williams was married to ex-husband and retired NFL player Kordell Stewart when she suffered her miscarriage, which she shared with cast mates and RHOA viewers when she first appeared on the show in 2012.

"First let me say it took a lot of prayers and thinking to decide to share that part of my life with you all. As you now know, I decided to open-up because if my story can help one female to take notice of what her body is telling her, if my story can cause one women to ask her doctor for a fibroid test prior to trying to conceive, then it will not have been told in vain," Williams wrote in a Bravo blog post at the time. "I try to formulate a plan, pray on what I desire, and many times it comes into fruition. However on my path to having a healthy baby, well, it didn't happen that way for me."
