Post Malone's 'Motley Crew' Video Pays Homage to Rock Royalty Tommy Lee

Post Malone's musical admiration for Tommy Lee continues, as he features the rocker in the video for his latest track, "Motley Crew."

Having already featured on a track called "Tommy Lee" in 2020, the title of Malone's newest song serves as a nod to the drummer's rock band, Mötley Crüe.

And beyond just refencing Lee, Malone—real name Austin Post—also features the musician in the video, which he released on Friday.

In the clip, Lee is seen zipping around a NASCAR track in a customized car as Malone sits beside him in the passenger seat while rapping to the camera.

The video ends with Malone being feted by a crowd of celebrity supporters—including NASCAR stars Denny Hamlin and Bubba Wallace—as he celebrates his victory.

On the Fourth of July, Lee shared a photo himself on the set of the video with Malone and two unidentified women as he wished the rapper a happy birthday.

Captioning the image, Lee wrote: "Happy Bday Austin @postmalone one of the sweetest dudes I know! Hope it's a rip!!!!!!! I'm sure!"

Also seen making cameos in the video are several musicians, including Big Sean, Ty Dolla $ign, French Montana, Kerwin Frost, LoveLeo, SAINt JHN, and Tyla Yaweh, with whom Malone collaborated on the track "Tommy Lee."

In June 2020, Lee spoke "Tommy Lee" in an interview with SiriusXM, saying, per NME: "I'm playing drums on this Post Malone song that's coming up—and if you can believe it, the song is called 'Tommy Lee.'

"It's killer. It's basically about living that rock star life that people in hip-hop always seem to talk about."

"I was humbled that Tyla and Post chose to name a song after me," Lee went on. "I couldn't wait to get my hands on it with them and give it my spin. We had a blast! They are the new rock stars! I love them both!"

In an interview with NME, also in June 2020, Yaweh explained why veteran rocker star Lee served as an inspiration to him

"Tommy Lee just doesn't give a f*** and I love that," he said. "I've got 'f*** the rules' tattooed on my neck so I kinda live by that same rule—being me and not letting anyone judge me.

"That's what I feel about Tommy Lee. And me and Tommy Lee just got cool. It's really cool to be cool with somebody I looked up to for so many years."
