Powerball $699 Million Jackpot Won by a Single Ticket Monday Night

The Powerball jackpot quickly rose to the fifth-highest prize in the game's history over the last week, and with a winner on Monday night, the game resets. There was one ticket that correctly had the first five numbers and the red Powerball for the $699.8 million jackpot.

Here are the winning numbers from the 10/04/21 Powerball game.
First Five: 12-22-54-66-69
Powerball: 15
Power Play: 2x

A ticket sold in California is the prize possession. The estimated cash-option for that ticket is $496 million.

"The lucky ticket holder will have the choice between an estimated annuity of $699.8 million, paid in 30 graduated payments over 29 years, or a lump sum payment of $496 million. Both prize options are prior to taxes," the Powerball website stated early Tuesday morning.

There were six tickets sold for the Monday drawing that matched the five white balls, and minus the red Powerball, for the game's second prize. One of those second-prize tickets, sold in Tennessee, is worth $2 million since they spent an extra $1 for the Power Play.

The other five second-prize tickets—one sold each in Arizona, Florida, Massachusetts (2) and Virginia—are worth $1 million each since they didn't purchase the Power Play.

The fourth-highest Powerball grand prize also happened in 2021 when a ticket sold in Maryland during January hit a $731.1 million jackpot.

Now, the game resets to the default minimum of $20 million.

Powerball nine months ago had three jackpot winners in four drawings. A ticket sold in Maryland hit the $731.1 million jackpot on Wednesday 01/20/21. The game reset to the $20 million minimum on Saturday 01/23/21, which was won, and then another jackpot hit on 01/30/21.

Powerball is a multi-state lottery played every Monday, Wednesday and Saturday, and one of America's two biggest lottery jackpot games. Powerball jackpots start at $20 million, and other prizes pay from $1 million to $2 million with a Power Play. Tickets are $2. You can check the numbers for tonight, or any past winning numbers, on the official Powerball website.

There are nine ways to win money during the Powerball. Just getting the Powerball with no other numbers pays out $4, and even more if the power play is bought for an extra dollar. The same payout goes for one ball plus the Powerball, and $7 is the payout for two correct numbers with the Powerball, or three correct numbers and no Powerball.

If all five white, numbered balls are chosen but the red Powerball is not correct, then the payout is $1 million, with an even higher payout if the power play is chosen.

The next drawing will be on Wednesday 10/06/21 for a $20 million jackpot.
