Powerball Results, Numbers For 4/22/20: Did Anyone Win the $29 Million Jackpot on Wednesday (Last) Night?

The winning Powerball numbers for Wednesday night's draw were 01, 33, 35, 40, and 69, the Powerball was 24, and the Power Play was 5X. The Powerball jackpot was worth an estimated $29 million with a cash option of $23.8 million. But did anyone win the grand prize?

Nobody matched five numbers and the Powerball to win the $29 million jackpot last night. However, major prizes were won as one player matched five numbers and used the Power Play, so won $2 million. Additionally, four players matched four numbers and the Powerball, winning $50,000, and one of these winners used the Powerplay and won $250,000.

Thousands of smaller prizes were also won last night, as more than 130 players won $100 by matching four numbers and more than 30 of these winners multiplied their prizes to $500 using the Power Play.

More than 360 other players also won $100, but by matching three numbers and the Powerball. Of these winners, more than 120 won $500 using the Power Play.

More than 9,200 players won $7 by matching three numbers, with more than 2,800 of these winning $35 using the Power Play. Additionally, more than 7,400 players also won $7 but by matching two numbers and the Power Play, with more than 2,300 players multiplying this prize to $35.

Finally, more than 60,300 players won $4 by matching one number and the Powerball, with 19,500 of these winners using the Power Play to win $20. Nearly 150,000 additional players also won $4 by matching just the Powerball, with nearly 50,000 of these winners winning $20 using the Powerball.

As nobody won the jackpot last night, it will roll over into the next Powerball drawing on Saturday night, when it will be worth an estimated $37 million with a cash value of $30.3 million.

Previously, the Powerball Group had plans to reduce the minimum a jackpot could grow between drawings to $2 million, but due to the COVID-19 pandemic affecting consumer behavior, the plans were revised. As of this month, Powerball's advertised jackpot is now determined by game sales and interest rates, instead of increasing by a minimum of $10 million each drawing.

Gregg Mineo, Powerball Product Group Chairman and Maine Lottery Director, explained in a statement published on April 2: "Since last week, more states and cities have asked their residents to stay at home, which has affected normal consumer behaviors and Powerball game sales.

"In response to the public health crisis, interest rates have declined. As a result, additional game sales are necessary to fund comparable jackpot amounts."

The next Powerball drawing will take place at 10.59 p.m. on Saturday, April 25. Sale cutoff times vary by lottery jurisdiction but are typically between an hour and two of the drawing. Powerball is played in 45 states, Washington, D.C., Puerto Rico, and the U.S. Virgin Islands.
