Powerball Results, Numbers For 4/8/20: Did Anyone Win the $190 Million Jackpot on Wednesday (Last) Night?

The winning numbers in last night's Powerball lottery draw were 2, 37, 39, 48, and 54, the Powerball was 5, and the Powerplay was X3. The jackpot was an estimated $190 million with a cash option of $156 million, but did anyone win?

Last night, a player from New Jersey matched all five numbers and the Powerball and won the jackpot. Additionally, one player from North Caroline matched five numbers and won $1 million.

Ten Powerball participants matched four balls and the Powerball and won $50,000, with four of these players winning $100,000 using the Powerplay.

More than 200 players matched four balls and won $100 with 65 of those winners using the Powerplay to win $200. More than 500 players won $100 by matching three numbers and the Powerball, and more than 100 of those players won $200 using the Powerplay.

Hundreds of thousands of players won smaller prizes ranging from $4 - $14. More than 24,000 players won 7 by either matching three numbers or two numbers and the Powerball, but nearly 7,000 of these players doubled their prizes to $14.

More than 300,000 players won $4 by matching either the Powerball or one number and the Powerball, and nearly 100,000 of these winners won $8 by using the Powerplay.

As a player won the jackpot, in Saturday night's draw, the Powerball jackpot is an estimated $20 million. The starting jackpot used to be $40 million, but now the advertised jackpot is based on game sales and interest rates.

Gregg Mineo, Powerball Product Group Chairman, and Maine Lottery Director, said in a statement: "These changes are necessary to ensure that ticket sales can support the Powerball jackpot and other lower-tier cash prizes.

"Our number one priority is making sure that the Powerball game can continue to assist lotteries in raising proceeds for their beneficiaries."

Last week, Powerball announced that the starting jackpot would be reduced to $20 million with minimum jackpot increases of $2 million, changes which were planned to go into effect after the next jackpot was won.

However, due to the development of the coronavirus pandemic, Powerball decided that the advertised jackpot would be determined by sales and interest rates.

Mineo added: "Since last week, more states and cities have asked their residents to stay at home, which has affected normal consumer behaviors and Powerball game sales. In response to the public health crisis, interest rates have declined. As a result, additional game sales are necessary to fund comparable jackpot amounts."

To participate in the next Powerball drawing, which will take place at 10:59 p.m. ET on Saturday, purchase a Powerball ticket for $2 per play from a licensed lottery retailer. Powerball tickets are sold in 45 states, Washington, D.C., Puerto Rico, and the U.S. Virgin Islands.
