Powerball Results, Numbers For 01/15/20: Did Anyone Win the $296 Million Jackpot on Wednesday (Last) Night?

The winning numbers for Wednesday (last) night's Powerball lottery were 39, 41, 52, 55, and 68. The Power Ball was 19 and the Power Play was 2X. The Powerball jackpot was an estimated $296 million with a cash option of $201.6 million, but did anyone win the grand prize?

Nobody matched all five balls and the Power Ball so nobody won the Powerball jackpot last night, so the jackpot in the next draw on Sunday night is an estimated $321 million with a cash option of $218.7 million. Nobody matched five balls either, so nobody won $1 million, which would have been doubled to $2 million using the Power Play.

Nineteen people matched four balls and the Power Ball so won $50,000 each, and two additional people used a Power Play so doubled their prize to $100,000. More than 1,500 people won $100 by either matching four balls or three balls and the Power Ball. Additionally, more than 300 people doubled their prize to $200 by using the Power Play.

More than 900,000 thousand people won other prizes ranging from $4 to $14 by matching anything from three numbers to just the Power Ball, and some players won more by doubling their prizes using the Power Play.

How to play the Powerball lottery?

The next Powerball lottery draw will take place at 10.50 p.m. on Saturday night. To enter the lottery, players must purchase a ticket from a licensed lottery retailer for $2. Players must choose five numbers between one and 69 and one number between one and 26 for the Power Ball.

There is the option of playing with the Power Play for an additional $1 per play. Before each draw, a Power Play of either 2X, 3X, 4X, 5X or 10X. The Power Play multiplies all prizes apart from the jackpot and the $1 million is only doubled to $2 million regardless of the Power Ball number. Additionally, the 10X Power Play can only be in play when the advertised jackpot is less than $150 million.

What happens when you win the lottery?

When a player wins the jackpot, they have the option of claiming the prize as an annuity, which is paid as an initial sum followed 29 annual graduated payments or they can claim the prize as a cash option, which is of a lesser value than the annuity but it is paid as one cash payment.

The Powerball jackpot starts at $40 million and increases by at least $5 million each the time the grand prize is not won. The odds of winning a prize in the lottery are 1 in 24.9 regardless of the number of tickets bought or the size of the jackpot.
