The last person to win a Powerball prize was a 79-year-old man from Delaware. The man, who is remaining anonymous, won one million dollars after matching five of the selected white balls during the March 2 Powerball drawing, according to a Powerball press release.

The 79-year-old man from Selbyville, Delaware, told lottery officials he had purchased two Quick Pick Powerball tickets from the Goose Creek convenience store in Fenwick Island. The winner will take home $760,000 after taxes, according to lottery officials.

"I won $500 before, but obviously nothing this big," the man said. "I checked my numbers on the website (delottery.com) the morning after the drawing. I couldn't believe it."

The winner claimed his winning prize on Monday at Lottery Headquarters in Dover, Delaware. He told lottery officials he does not know what he plans to do with his winnings but is very happy to have it all in the bank.

"This is the second $1,000,000 winner from Delaware in just two months," said Vernon Kirk, Director of the Delaware Lottery in a statement. "A $1,000,000 winning MEGA MILLIONS® ticket was sold in Rehoboth in January."
