Powerball Results, Numbers for 7/1/20: Did Anyone Win $51 Million Jackpot?

Did anyone win the Powerball last night? The top prize for the national lottery drawing on Wednesday was an estimated $51 million, with a cash option of $40.6 million.

The winning numbers last night were 15-28-52-53-63, with the Powerball being 18 and a Power Play of 4x. Alas, nobody won the jackpot by matching all numbers and the Powerball, but one lucky person did win at least $1 million by matching all five white balls.

Three people matched four white balls and the Powerball to take home a $50,000 prize, with all three of them quadrupling their prize to $200,000 because they also purchased the 4x Power Play. All winners have 180 days from the date of the drawing to claim their prize.

As nobody won the jackpot last night, it could mean that someone has a very special Independence Day, with the top prize rolling into the next drawing this Saturday, July 4. The estimated jackpot will be $60 million, with a cash value of $47.8 million, according to the Powerball website. The jackpot could increase if sales further lottery projections, according to officials.

The Powerball numbers in the previous drawing on Saturday, June 27 were 09-36-49-56-62, with the Powerball being 08 with a Powerball of 2x. There were no winners of the grand prize in that draw either, nor did anyone manage to scoop the second biggest prize by matching all five white balls. The last time somebody won the Powerball jackpot was back on June 10.

How do you play Powerball?

The Powerball, along with the Mega Millions, is one of the most popular lotteries in the United States. Started in 1992, Powerball is held twice a week, with draws normally taking place on Wednesday and Saturday night. The drawing is always broadcast live at 10:59 p.m. ET from the lottery studio in Tallahassee, Florida.

A ticket costs $2, with participants having to pick five numbers from 1 to 69, in addition to one Powerball number from 1 to 26. Players can either choose their numbers on a pay slip, or let a lottery terminal randomly pick their numbers. Players are also able to potentially multiply non-jackpot prizes by 2, 3, 4, 5 or 10 times using the Power Play option for an additional $1. Powerball is available to play in 45 states, as well as the District of Columbia, Puerto Rico and the U.S. Virgin Islands.

The overall odds of winning a prize are 1 in 24.9. The odds of winning the jackpot are 1 in 292.2 million, according to the Powerball website. On the official site you can also check the numbers for last night's drawing, or any past winning numbers.
