Powerball Results, Numbers for 7/8/20: Did Anyone Win the $69 Million?

The jackpot for the Powerball last night was $69 million, with a cash option of $55 million, but did anyone take home the top prize?

The winning numbers for the drawing on Wednesday, July 8, were 3, 10, 34, 36 and 62, with the red Powerball of 5 and a Power Play of 10x.

Nobody purchased a ticket that matched all these numbers and successfully took home the jackpot. In fact, there were no tickets sold that managed to match just the five white balls either, which would have rewarded a payout of $1 million.

The biggest winners last night were the eight people who managed to match four of the white balls plus the Powerball to receive a $50,000 payout, with three of those winning tickets multiplying their prize to a huge $500,000 because they purchased the additional Power Play.

With nobody winning the top prize, it means the jackpot will roll over to Saturday's draw. The estimated jackpot for July 11 now stands at $79 million with a cash value of $63 million. This jackpot could increase if the sales further lottery projections, according to officials.

Before Wednesday's draw, the previous Powerball on July 4 had the winning numbers of 16, 21, 27, 60, 61. There were no jackpot winners for that draw either, though one lucky person in New Jersey did manage to successfully match all five white balls and scoop the $1 million prize.

The last jackpot also hailed from the Garden State, when one winning ticket on the April 8 drawing successfully matched all numbers to win a grand prize worth $190 million. The numbers for that drawing were 2,37,39,48, 54 and a Powerball of 5, with the winning ticket sold at a liquor store in Piscataway.

How do you play Powerball?

The Powerball is held twice a week, with draws taking place on a Wednesday and Saturday night, at 10:59 p.m. Each draw is broadcast live from the lottery studio in Tallahassee, Florida.

The lottery game is available to play in 45 states, the District of Columbia, Puerto Rico and the U.S. Virgin Islands. Each ticket costs $2 per play, with payers selecting five numbers from 1 to 69, in addition to one red Powerball number from 1 to 26. In certain circumstances, players can also multiply non-jackpot prizes by using the Power Play option for an additional $1.

Powerball's official website claims that players have a 1 in 24.9 chance of winning any prize regardless of the number of participants. But the chances of winning the grand prize jackpot are astronomically higher at 1 in 292,201,338, according to the official website.
