Powerball Results, Numbers for 11/7/19: Did Anyone Win the $40 Million Jackpot on Wednesday (Last) Night?

The Powerball draw took place Wednesday (last) night, but did anyone win? The winning numbers were 15, 28, 46, 62 and 64, and the Powerball was 17. There was a Power Play of X3.

The Powerball jackpot for November 6 was an estimated $40 million, with a cash option of $28 million. Nobody won the jackpot as nobody matched five balls and the Powerball. Therefore, the jackpot for the next drawing on Sunday, November 10, is estimated to be $50 million, with a cash option of $34.9 million.

The jackpot estimate was $40 million as, during the previous drawing on November 2, someone matched five numbers and the Powerball, winning $150 million. Therefore, the jackpot was reset to $40 million. The ticket for the winning jackpot was purchased in California.

Last night, somebody matched five balls, which normally has a prize of $1 million. This winner used the power play, however, which means their prize was $2 million. The $1 million prize is always doubled to $2 million with a power play, no matter if it's X2, X3, X4, X5, or X10.

Three people matched four balls and the Powerball, which means they each won $50,000. If they had used the power play, they each would have won $150,000. The power play will multiply any prize except for the jackpot, and the $1 million prize, which is always doubled with a power play.

What is the powerplay?

The power play can be purchased for an additional $1 per play and the multiplier number is selected just before the drawing. The X10 multiplier can only be selected when the advertised jackpot annuity is $150 million or less.

How to play Powerball?

Powerball tickets cost $2 per play and can be bought at any licensed retailer in 44 states, Washington DC, Puerto Rico and the US Virgin Islands. Players select five numbers between 1 and 69 for the white balls and select one number between 1 and 26 for the red Powerball. Players can choose their numbers on a play slip or have the lottery terminal randomly pick their numbers.

Powerball players also have the option of selecting the number of consecutive drawings they want to play with Multi-Draw or Advance Play. The Multi-Draws or Advance Plays available for purchase is dependent on the state.

Powerball draws take place every Wednesday and Saturday at 10:59 p.m. ET and ticket sales close around two hours before the drawing but dependent on jurisdiction. The odds of winning a prize on Powerball are 1 in 24.9 no matter the size of the jackpot. There are nine ways to win a prize, ranging from $4 to the jackpot.
