Powerball Soars to $620 Million Despite 8 New Millionaires on Wednesday

There was no grand-prize winner from Wednesday night's Powerball drawing, sending the newest jackpot to an estimated $620 million. It's the sixth-highest jackpot in the game's history. This is despite eight tickets from Wednesday worth at least $1 million apiece.

The Wednesday 09/29/21 jackpot had these winning numbers:
First Five: 02-07-11-17-32
Powerball: 11
Power Play: 3x

Although there was no ticket that hit the grand prize on Wednesday, there were eight tickets that matched the first five white balls, and just missing the red Powerball, for the game's second prize. Five of those tickets won the default second prize of $1 million since they didn't spend an extra $1 for the Power Play. Those five tickets were sold in California, Florida, Indiana, New York and Wisconsin.

Three of the second-prize tickets are worth $2 million apiece since they bought the extra $1 Power Play. Those tickets were sold in Michigan, Ohio and Oklahoma.

The new Powerball grand-prize jackpot rolls over to $620 million, which would be the sixth-highest jackpot ever. This comes just a little more than eight months since there was a $731.1 million ticket sold in Maryland, which was the fourth-best in the game's history.

The drawing on Saturday 10/02/21 will be held at 11 p.m. ET.

Powerball eight months ago had three jackpot winners in four drawings. A ticket sold in Maryland hit the $731.1 million jackpot on Wednesday 01/20/21. The game reset to the $20 million minimum on Saturday 01/23/21, which was won, and then another jackpot hit on 01/30/21.

Powerball is a multi-state lottery played every Monday, Wednesday and Saturday, and one of America's two biggest lottery jackpot games. Powerball jackpots start at $20 million, and other prizes pay from $1 million to $2 million with a Power Play. Tickets are $2. You can check the numbers for tonight, or any past winning numbers, on the official Powerball website.

The other multi-state lottery is Mega Millions, which is played on Tuesdays and Fridays. Like Powerball, the jackpot is reset at $20 million after a jackpot is won, and one line of numbers is $2, with a $1 option to multiply their winnings with a Megaplier.
