Newegg remains the only major U.S. retailer currently stocking the PlayStation 5 and Sony's next-gen console could remain hard to come by for the foreseeable future.
Speaking to analysts after the Japanese tech giant announced its financial result on April 28, Sony's chief financial officer, Hiroki Totoki, warned demand could continue to outstrip supply well into next year.
"I don't think demand is calming down this year and even if we secure a lot more devices and produce many more units of the PlayStation 5 next year, our supply wouldn't be able to catch up with demand," he was quoted as saying by Bloomberg.

The PS5 remains unavailable at Amazon. A message on the retailer's website states Amazon does not know when, or if, the console will be back in stock.
