'PUBG' Tequila Sunrise Event Mode Is Live - Dates, Times, Rules & Tips

PlayerUnknown's Battlegrounds fans were introduced to the Tequila Sunrise Event Mode last night, and it's the main focus of community conversation this morning. In this short roundup, we'll cover all the rules, dates, times and tips you need to know to enjoy Tequila Sunrise as much as possible.

PUB 's Tequila Sunrise Event Mode began at 10 p.m. EDT on April 5, and it concludes at 10 p.m. EDT on April 8. In other words, it will be available for most of the weekend.

Tequila Sunrise is a Squad-focused mode on Miramar that's restricted to shotguns and melee weapons in first or third person. Those items spawn at three times their normal rate, with the same increase applied to Level 3 armor and all applicable ammo.

As far as Safe Zones are concerned, there are only minor changes. The very first Safe Zone is visible as soon as the match begins, but it's a bit smaller than normal. All Care Packages are disabled, and the time of day is appropriately locked at sunrise.

If you've played a shotguns-only mode in other shooters before, the tips found here are pretty standard. While the Battle Royale formula makes the action slightly more intense, this kind of match type has thrived on PC and the modded servers of other games for well over a decade.

1) Armor is the number-one priority: If everyone's going to be coming after you with heavy weaponry, then you're going to need armor fast. It will serve you well to keep your eye on top-tier loot locations like Murder House and the casino, but you'll need to wait for the right time to hit those population centers quietly. Especially if you can squeeze into the prison before anyone else, do so to grab some armor.

That being said, if all the standard plans fail, the increased spawn rates should be able to bail you out on occasion. The main goal is to get covered quickly.

2) Don't engage if you don't have to: One of the advantages of a mode like Tequila Sunrise is it's much easier to run away from conflict. You're totally screwed if you get cornered, but, especially if you have a good Squad, not every encounter has to be deadly.

It may not be super entertaining from a gameplay perspective, but getting a Chicken Dinner in Tequila Sunrise may be as simple as hiding in a corner and meleeing any enemies that enter your space.

3) Stay Quiet: Our third and final tip coincides with the previous one. While everyone is out there shooting their shotguns like crazy, Tequila Sunrise offers a great opportunity for stealth. Especially if you come across someone who's not as armored up as they should be, getting behind them for a melee takedown is much more possible than before. Without snipers in the mix, everyone's viewpoint is a bit more obstructed than it'd otherwise be. Take advantage of that weakness and strike in silence.

PlayerUnknown's Battlegrounds is available now on PC and in Game Preview on Xbox One. The Event Mode is exclusive to PC.
