Teresa Giudice—yeah, you know her. She's the raven-haired New Joisey housewife from Bravo's The Real Housewives of New Jersey who is raising a clutch of identically attired ragazze and recently moved into a lavish spread that resembled an opulent catering hall. She's also the one who dramatically flipped a dinner table when resident baddie Danielle stirred up the gathering by introducing "the book" that reveals her slightly sordid past. This week Bravo is airing two reunion shows, starting on Wednesday and continuing on Thursday night. Teresa (and a Bravo publicist) spoke to NEWSWEEK from her Jersey manse. Excerpts:
NEWSWEEK: How are you feeling? When are you due?
I'm feeling really good. I'm due in September. (Story continued below...)
Do you know what you're having?
No.
If it's another girl, are you going to keep on trying for a boy?
I don't think so. Four is a good number, it's even.
Why did you invite Danielle to the dinner party? Did the producers make you?
(The Bravo publicist interrupts): What I can say is when we wrap, generally the show ends with some type of event where all the ladies are present.
As you can see from all the other shows at the end all the ladies are present.
OK so the answer is yes.
(Bravo publicist): No, no, Teresa was honestly being … well, Teresa, you say it.
Well, I hosted a dinner and I figured I'd be nice and invite her.
Did you have any idea she'd bring the book?
No, because as you can see that really annoyed me especially that my kids were there. If I knew she would have brought the book I never would have brung my kids. Oh I was so mad.
On a scale of 1 to 10 how much does Danielle annoy you?
20.
So you haven't invited her over for a BBQ.
She's never been to my house.
How long have you known her?
Just when we started filming. I'm friends with the other ladies. I gave her a chance to get to know her and through my experiences with her made me do what I did at the end. As you can see she likes to push buttons and she kept doing things. I just kept my mouth shut and then finally I just blew it.
Was it fun flipping the table?
Fun? It was heat of the moment and it was something that came spontaneously. That was my anger coming out. I just had enough of her. I was just done. I've never done it before. Will I ever do it again? I don't think so because I don't think I'll let someone get to me like she does because in real life I probably would have stopped hanging out with her. Like the first time she annoyed me … Easy!! Hold on. [Giudice goes to talk to her kids.]
Hello? You see I have kids. I'm a real housewife. My kids are outside riding their bikes. So if we were in real life, the first time she would have annoyed me I would have stopped hanging out with her. But hanging out with that person for three months and they just keep annoying you and annoying you, I did give her a chance in the beginning, I was her friend. I don't know why they put that blow-job comment in the beginning.
That made you into a superstar.
Really?
Loved it. Love it when you describe your husband as 'juicy and delicious.'
Yeah but the blow-job comment I was stating the facts and I didn't say it until after she attacked my husband at the dance studio. I don't start shooting off my mouth. I'm not like that. I'm a mother. Am I about drama? No, but that's what it was all about. After she attackeded [sic] me I attackeded back and that's what happened. I can really say from my heart she's the one who started it.
What projects have you been offered?
I started my own Web site, www.teresagiudice.com. Everyone loves my sayings like, 'happy wife, happy life,' 'delicious and juicy,' 'love love love,' 'fabulous.' So I've made T shirts with that and hats and I've started a custom-made jewelry line.
You need to be on QVC.
Hopefully for the second season. I always wanted to open a boutique but right now with the economy thing it's not a good time but I did come from the fashion world and that's why I'm into all that.
What do you think makes Jersey girls special?
I think we're really real and really family-orientated. We put family first. Like some people they're into nannies and the whole social life and they don't spend time with their kids. I'm always with my kids. I only got a babysitter since I've been doing the show.
Would you say that maybe there's a little too much onyx and granite in your house?
No, I don't think you can ever have too much. I coulda had more. What do you think?
I think it's a little … it's very ornate.
Yeah you can say that. I guess cause it's my home, I think it's just right.
