QAnon Followers Join Protests Over Wi Spa Complaint About Trans Customer

QAnon believers joined demonstrators outside a Los Angeles spa following a complaint about a transgender customer.

Protestors gathered outside Wi Spa USA on Saturday, in Koreatown, after an upset woman shared a video where she complained that a transgender woman had disrobed in the women's changing room.

But, video and images appeared to show a number of QAnon followers had also demonstrated outside or close to the spa.

Newsweek saw a video, shared by a Los Angeles Magazine contributor, where protestors chanted "save our children," a phrase associated with QAnon believers across the world, and one wore a T-shirt that included the term "Pedowood."

Both terms promote the baseless QAnon conspiracy theory that there is a global cabal made up of celebrities, media figures and government officials who traffic and cannibalize children.

The far-right protestors, which also included people who did not appear to be affiliated with the QAnon movement, were met by counter-protesters, some of whom wore items associated with the left-wing Antifa movement.

Officers gathered near sites where protestors from both sides clashed with each other and intervened when several people hit out at each other.

The protesters repeatedly say that “pedophile is not a sexual orientation.”

Worth noting that no one is defending or supporting pedophilia, but the protesters seem to be conflating trans rights with pedophilia. pic.twitter.com/uBcQahUPxu

Newsweek has seen video, taken by the same Los Angeles Magazine contributor, of one man wearing an "Obey Jesus" T-Shirt being attacked by counter-protesters, one of whom was draped in an Antifa flag. He was later seen in another clip with blood streaming down his head.

According to NBC News, Los Angeles Fire Department spokesman Nicholas Prange said one person at the protests was taken to a medical facility after receiving non-life-threatening injuries.

The outlet added that police declared an unlawful assembly and began to push protestors back from where they had gathered.

Left-wing protestors were later seen clashing with police and officers were seen forcibly pushing the same group back with batons.

Saturday's protests were ignited after a viral video was shared where a female customer complained that a transgender woman had disrobed in the women's changing room.

The video, which has been viewed more than 131,000 times on Instagram since it was uploaded last week, showed the woman complaining to a spa employee and included her making comments that would be widely considered to be transphobic.

In a statement to Los Angeles Magazine, Wi Spa USA said: "Like many other metropolitan areas, Los Angeles contains a transgender population, some of whom enjoy visiting a spa. Wi Spa strives to meet the needs of all its customers."

Attorney Peter F. Jazayeri, who is representing the spa, said: "California law prohibits discrimination against transgender and gender non-conforming people in business establishments."

Newsweek has contacted the Los Angeles Police Department and Wi Spa USA for comment.
