'League of Legends' New Champion Qiyana Is an AD Assassin From the Jungle

Qiyana has just been revealed as the newest League of Legends champion. The Empress of the Elements carries a giant circular weapon, wielding fire, ice and earth to murder her foes. A short champion reveal was released on Thursday night, giving us our first real glimpse at the white-haired beauty. A few hours later, on an Oceanic server Riot Games live stream, we got a deeper look at her character model and the danger she can unleash in game.

Riot Games has also released her theme music, which sounds straight out of the roaring jungle. She will certainly be a beast on the battlefield.

Unfortunately, Riot Games has not released her full list of abilities yet but there are a few things that can be discovered if you know where to dig. The last League Champion Roadmap, which details the next few releases for the MOBA, mentioned that the next champion will be an AD assassin and enemies should be wary when they stand next to walls. "This champion's arrival will send you deep into the jungles of Runeterra where a brand new faction, hidden from the rest of the world, will reveal itself," the post said. "This assassin has powers which give them all the elements they need to use their surroundings in clever and innovative ways."

AD, or attack damage, is a physical type of damage. Zed and Talon are the main two AD assassins in League, dealing massive amounts of damage in short bursts to unsuspecting enemies. They are some of the most challenging champions to play against since you rarely see them coming before you are dead. There is nothing more frustrating than playing as Annie and getting blown up by a Death Mark you couldn't escape in time.

Expect to see Qiyana on the PBE sometime in the next couple of weeks, with a full champion reveal on Monday or Tuesday. Since Morgana, Kayle and Mordekaiser's reworks took so long in development, it gave Riot time to sneak in an extra champion for 2019. Hopefully she won't be as boring, or broken, as Yuumi and actually offer players strategic depth.
