Answer by Hillary Clinton, Candidate for President & Former Secretary of State, on Quora:

When Republicans talk about "defunding" Planned Parenthood, as nearly all of the GOP presidential candidates have, they're talking about cutting off millions of patients from life-saving preventive care and a provider they know and trust. They don't want you to think about the mom who caught her cancer early thanks to a screening at Planned Parenthood. Or the young woman who avoided an unintended pregnancy because she had access to birth control. 2.7 million Americans get go to Planned Parenthood for these services and more every year.

Sadly, these attacks on women's health are not new. Attacking Planned Parenthood is part of a concerted effort to roll back women's access to reproductive health care, including abortion. Republican governors in states like Florida and Texas have gutted critical family planning programs and shuttered health centers that provide lifesaving and necessary treatment. In some cases, these policies have left patients with nowhere to go. And that's just wrong.

I'm proud to stand with Planned Parenthood and I will continue to fight to make sure every woman in this country has the right to make her own health decisions.
