'Rage 2' Gameplay Demo Revealed By Bethesda at E3

Rage 2 was privy to an announcement and gameplay trailer ahead of E3, but the game's publishers at Bethesda showed off even more footage during an E3 showcase Sunday night. A lengthy demo revealed how the game will play.

Starting with the most critical detail, Rage 2 will hit store shelves this coming spring. But that's just the tip of the iceberg when it comes to the breadth of this presentation. It would seem the Rage sequel will be a lot less like its predecessor and more similar to loot-focused shooters like Destiny and Borderlands. Players will take down massive monsters and collect cosmetic and gameplay-focused rewards from each altercation. At specific checkpoints, players can unlock buffs to enhance their abilities. Players also have the ability to drive any vehicle they see and using its weaponry to attack foes. After driving, the action switches to a seamless open world from a first-person perspective.

While Bethesda probably would have preferred to leave Rage 2 as an E3 surprise, the game was the highest-profile name to be featured in an infamous leak from Walmart Canada in early May. The same leak tipped gamers off to Just Cause 4, Assassin's Creed Odyssey and Forza Horizon 4 weeks before their intended reveals.

Rage 2 comes to PS4, Xbox One and PC in the spring of 2019.
