'RHOBH': What the Cast Has Said About Denise Richards Leaving
The Real Housewives franchise will be without one of its biggest stars next season as Starship Troopers actor Denise Richards has said she will be leaving the Real Housewives of Beverly Hills after two seasons.
In a statement to People, a spokesperson for Richards said she was exiting the Bravo show to lighten her filming load. They said: "The Bold and the Beautiful is her second concurrent acting gig [as well as drama series Glow and Darkness] so she was looking to replace RHOBH with time loving her amazing husband, children and who knows, maybe even friends now. She took her three productions down to two so now she can enjoy her family more as well."
However, her departure came after a season of disputes with many of her RHOBH cast members and the accusation made against her by co-star Brandi Glanville that they had had an affair—a claim that Richards has denied.
With the actor leaving on fairly bad terms with her Beverly Hills co-stars, it is no surprise that they have pulled no punches in reacting to the news of Richards leaving. Erika Jayne, for example, posted a meme thought to refer to Richards showing a kid pushing another child out of the door with the caption, "bye."

When a fan asked Teddi Mellencamp if she was happy Richards left the show, she replied on her Instagram Story: "Not surprised. I don't know when and why the decision was made but anytime one person wants to be the 'star' of a show and control how they are portrayed when it's about showing the truth as an ensemble it doesn't end well. I wish her the best and hope she is thriving and happy. I also hope she stops referring to herself in the third person, but I guess I have to let that part go."
In another post, she was asked if she would ever be friends with the The World is Not Enough actor. She replied: "I never say never about anything but neither of us are banging down each other's door to be in one another's life."
Richards' ally Garcelle Beauvais, meanwhile, said of the RHOBH casting news on The Jenny McCarthy Show: "I think when you're constantly talked about, you know, it could affect your marriage, it could affect your kids, it was just like, back off a little bit, not every dinner needs to be about this. I think she's just had enough."
As is the way with the Real Housewives, cast members from other shows also weighed in. One-time New York star Bethanny Frankel wrote on Twitter: "I know & like @DENISE_RICHARDS. She should live her life BUT she is on a reality show where someone's always winning & someone's losing. In the words of the wise prophet Caroline Manzo 'if you hang out with trash you start to smell like garbage.'"
