'Red Dead Redemption 2' Shipping Delay? Best Buy Emails Cause Confusion

Some people who have pre-ordered Red Dead Redemption 2 at Best Buy have been getting some strange emails. Users across the web, from Resetera, Twitter and Reddit are saying they've received emails from the retail giant that the game has been delayed. The email says the game is delayed until Dec 31 ... 2017. Users are rightfully confused, unless Best Buy managed to find a time machine hidden in the back of an old Wii U display. The date seems to have been updated on the site, which claims you can pick up your copy of Red Dead on Oct 26.

@BestBuy Why did I receive an email saying Red Dead Redemption 2 pick up date was pushed back to Dec 31st? When the release date is Oct 26th.

This is an odd issue but it seems to just be a passing bug. If you've received the email, we recommend ignoring it. Rockstar overworks their employees but not enough to reshape the space-time continuum.

Kotaku has reported that indie stores will be getting Red Dead Redemption 2 a week later than retail giants like Best Buy and Gamestop. Letting a bug like this slip through the cracks makes you worry that players are going to have a hard time getting a copy at launch. The game may not have delays or issues, but this wonky email doesn't give us confidence in Best Buy.
