'Red Dead Redemption 2' Gameplay Trailer is Here

The latest trailer for Red Dead Redemption 2 is here!!! The big news this time is this trailer focuses on gameplay footage instead of cutscenes. If you want to see how Red Dead Redemption 2 actually looks like while playing, this one's for you.

The new trailer can be watched above.

Red Dead Redemption 2 stars a newcomer to the series, Arthur Morgan. A member of the Van der Linde gang of outlaws, Morgan finds himself torn between wanting to do what is right, and sticking by the people he considers family. Thanks to Red Dead Redemption 2's Honor system, players will be able to make their own choices when it comes to Morgan's story.

CAMPING

There were four main takeaways from the trailer. The first was about camping. As a member of the Van der Linde gang, players will have to set up camp for everyone whenever the gang decides to rest. This camp acts as a hub of sorts, with players able to interact with various gang members, eat, sleep and play poker and other games.

Interacting with the gang members opens up side missions and other activities.

COMBAT

Hand-to-hand and gun combat have been greatly revamped, with the trailer confirming realistic recoil and reloading for all guns. Fistfighting is said to be "deep and engaging at all times."

It's also possible to avoid combat entirely at times. Players are able to talk to people and can escalate or defuse a situation based on how you respond to others.

HUNTING

The wilderness is filled with both predators and prey, so be sure to watch your back when off exploring the woods of Red Dead Redemption 2. Hunting serves as a great source of income. Cash can be used at general stores, gunsmiths, saloons and elsewhere.

Hunting can be done with guns as well as a bow and arrows. Wounding an animal leaves behind a trail of blood for players to scout after, so you can hunt down your target even if it runs off.

HORSES

Horses are an important mode of transportation in Red Dead Redemption 2, but they aren't like a car in GTA. The longer you are with a horse, and the better you treat your horse, the deeper your connection with the horse will be. Just like real life, there are also different breeds of horse in Red Dead Redemption 2, and each one is best suited for a specific task. For example, the draft horse is best at pulling a wagon, but would lose in most races.

A horse's saddle and saddle bags can store extra weapons and additional supplies and animal carcasses. It will definitely help having a horse nearby when out on the open plains.

Rockstar has also confirmed another gameplay trailer will be released soon, which details missions, shooting and the Dead Eye system. It wasn't confirmed when the new trailer will release, but it will likely pop up in another week or two.

If you want to catch up on everything released for Red Dead Redemption 2 so far, the three previously released trailers can all be found here as well.

For returning Red Dead fans, Dutch Van der Linde and James Marston make a return (or debut? It is a prequel after all) in Red Dead Redemption 2. Van der Linde will likely act as either a reliable ally or enemy depending on how you treat him while playing. If Rockstar keeps the same story from Red Dead Redemption, Marston will act as an ally for a while, before leaving or getting kicked out of the gang.

Red Dead Redemption 2 will release for PS4 and Xbox One on Oct. 26.
