The Boston Red Sox are looking to bounce back from their loss in the American League Wild Card Series to the New York Yankees last October. When the postseason begin, slugger Roman Anthony was unavailable after suffering a season-ending injury.

However, he performed well before the injury, slashing .292/.396/.463 with eight home runs, 32 RBI and an .859 OPS. If he can stay healthy, his ceiling is high.

Eno Sarris of The Athletic made a bold prediction, that Anthony will win AL MVP honors this season.

"The one knock on Anthony as a Boston Red Sox prospect was that he hit too many ground balls," Sarris wrote. "That was definitely true at the lowest levels, but then he went to work on his swing path and hit a few more balls in the air at every level he reached. Still, a 50 percent ground-ball rate doesn’t seem to presage a big power hitter."

Anthony has a lot of power from the left side of the plate, and if he can stay healthy and hone that power, he has the chance to be a very special player. The Red Sox did lose Alex Bregman, so if there was ever a time for Anthony to step up and become an MVP caliber player, it would be this season.

It's certainly a bold prediction, but he has the potential to win the award if he picks up right where he left off before the injury last season. He hit .318/.423./.591 with two home runs and a 1.014 OPS in 22 plate appearances for Team USA in the World Baseball Classic,

If that is any indication, the Red Sox and their fans could be in for a treat this year.
