Internet users have been left in stitches after a tiny golden puppy appeared to scare herself for no reason, screaming her heart out into a pillow.

Golden retriever and Labrador mix Livvy lives with her owner Lindsay in Michigan, and is now 4 years old. However, recently, Lindsay found herself looking back at her pet's time as a puppy, and decided to share a video that has gone viral on TikTok.

Lindsay told Newsweek that Livvy is "very well behaved but definitely has her weird moments." A clip of one of these has now been viewed over 21.3 million times, and received up more than 5.6 million likes, since being shared on May 25.

In the clip, Lindsay records then-puppy Livvy hyperactively jumping around the sofa, hiding behind pillows and nipping at her owner. But, as she goes behind the pillow again, Livvy suddenly goes still—and then lets out a yelp that some have dubbed the "Homer Simpson scream."

As Lindsay bursts out laughing, another voice can be heard saying: "Did she just make that noise? Was that her?" And Livvy herself comes out from behind the pillows looking far more solemn than before.

Lindsay, who did not give her surname, captioned the video: "Sometimes you just gotta scream into a pillow.

TikTok users were in bits from the short clip, with one writing, "Screamed like The Grinch," and another joking: "That dog saw a GHOST."

"Even she's confused," one posted, as another commented: "Little miss afraid of the dark!"

A third added: "She said oh my GOD ITS DARK BACK HERE."

Speaking to Newsweek, Lindsay said she had forgotten about the video, taken when Livvy was around 11 weeks old. However, when she rediscovered the clip, she decided that "I should post this just for fun."

The reaction has made her family "super happy," as "it's rare to have a video that only has positive comments but we have now done it multiple times."

Lindsay added: "Also, we love the original How the Grinch Stole Christmas movie, and think Max, the Grinch's dog, is so funny."

As a cross between a Golden retriever and Labrador retriever, Livvy is a mix of two of America's most-popular dog breeds.

A report from the American Kennel Club (AKC) notes the similarities between the breeds, from their sociable temperament and kind nature, both toward humans and other dogs.

Both Labradors and goldens are tolerant, loving and gentle; however, if not well trained and given proper mental and physical exercise, both breeds may become destructive.

Speaking about the video, Lindsay added that Livvy had been acting "pretty weird," which made her start recording, "but this scream was like nothing I had ever heard before."

"She still gets hyper on the couch but is now 78 pounds. She always has to greet you with a toy, sometimes three, and if, for whatever reason, you walk in before she has a toy, she will smell you and immediately run to go find a toy," Lindsay said.

"She also is a very polite beggar and will sit patiently hoping for you to drop a piece of food."

Lindsay added that she is "happy to spread some humor and hope everyone continues to enjoy videos of Livvy being Livvy."
