'Replacement' Bridesmaid Says 'Exhausting Bridezilla' Insulted Her Baby in Viral Post

A "replacement" bridesmaid claimed in a now-viral post that her friend Katie—the bride—recently made several insulting remarks about her newborn's appearance.

Posting to Reddit's "Am I The A**hole" forum on Wednesday under the username u/Extreme_Demand4217, the bridesmaid shared that, in light of Katie's remarks, she'll likely drop out of Katie's bridal party. But she apparently won't be the first of Katie's bridesmaids to quit.

"Since I have joined[,] five people have dropped out due to her attitude and high expectations," u/Extreme_Demand4217 recalled.

So far, the post has received more than 7,700 upvotes and over 1,300 comments.

According to the Redditor, Katie demanded that her bridesmaids receive professional manicures before each event and has told them all to "buy new outfits" for each night of the bachelorette party, among other costly requirements.

"The rough estimate for everything she wants (bridal shower, Airbnbs, bach trip, food & drink for myself and her, decorations for all events, outfits, etc.) was around two grand on the low end," wrote u/Extreme_Demand4217.

Still, u/Extreme_Demand4217 was willing to comply with Katie's demands. That is until Katie insulted u/Extreme_Demand4217's newborn baby during a photoshoot.

"I'm two weeks postpartum and Katie came to take my baby's newborn pictures," said u/Extreme_Demand4217.

"When she came she insulted my weight multiple times and reminded me I need to lose my baby weight before her wedding," u/Extreme_Demand4217 continued. "She then proceeded to insult my infant daughter."

Katie purportedly said that it was "sad" that the baby looked like u/Extreme_Demand4217's "hillbilly boyfriend," and implied that the infant's "dark" skin tone was "bad."

Now, u/Extreme_Demand4217 plans to relinquish her role as bridesmaid, adding that she "never" wants to speak to Katie again.

Katie isn't the first bride whose alleged insensitive remarks have resulted in losing a bridesmaid.

In September, another Redditor shared that she stepped down from her future sister-in-law's bridal party after the sister-in-law directed several hurtful comments towards her during a family lunch.

"One day before the wedding we were having a family lunch with the bride's family and during lunch she started mentioning [a] female ex-friend of my fiancé," the Redditor wrote. "She started saying what a gorgeous girl she is and how pretty she is."

According to the Redditor, the sister-in-law went on to say that it was a "shame" her brother—the Redditor's fiancé—never dated that friend, adding that she would have loved to have the woman as one of her bridesmaids.

The Redditor, upset, left the lunch and formally quit the bridal party.

Meanwhile, commenters of u/Extreme_Demand4217's recent post said she was right to quit Katie's wedding and slammed the bride for being a "bridezilla."

"NTA [not the a**hole]. Drop out NOW! And I'd drop her as a 'friend' as well. I thought h**l no after reading the list of demands, and that's before I got to the other insults," wrote u/sueelleker.

"NTA. She's a bridezilla and the fact that she's insulting not just you but your daughter, too shows she isn't a true friend," commented u/New_Shallot_7000.

"NTA: this is no friend, especially after the baby situation. Leave her be and wish the groom luck, he's gonna need it," said u/BaltimoreBadger23.

Redditor u/Zimi231added: "[T]his 'friend' sounds like an exhausting bridezilla."
