Lincoln has given Navigator, its flagship SUV, a mid-cycle refresh for the 2022 model year. The 2022 Navigator features new interior trim choices, hands-free highway driver-assistance features and some exterior updates.

"The confident, new look of Navigator and the introduction of advanced features such as Lincoln ActiveGlide – our hands-free driver-assist technology – are great examples of how we elevate our sanctuary experience and keep our vehicles fresh," said Joy Falotico, president of Lincoln. "The new Navigator will continue to play a critical role in differentiating our brand and will welcome even more new clients to Lincoln."

Lincoln is adding to its highest-end Navigator models with two new Black Label themes for 2022. Central Park and Invitation feature specialty trim and upholstery options in the same vein as other Black Label options. Those models are also able to be swathed in an exclusive Manhattan Green paint job.

At the front end, the Navigator boasts an upgraded grille with a new texture and shape. The headlights gained new pixel projector lighting elements and at the rear, the LED taillights now feature an animation sequence that fades out from the center as you walk up to the car and in the opposite direction when you exit the car.

The 2022 Navigator also gained some updates to the engine. While the twin-turbo 3.5-liter V6 produces slightly less horsepower than last year's model, (440 versus 450), it retains the same 510 pound-feet of torque. The engine is paired with a 10-speed automatic transmission. Navigator is available in rear- and four-wheel drive.

An upgraded massage system can be found in the 30-way power-adjustable driver and front passenger seats. The second-row seats now come with standard heat, ventilation and available massage capability. Second-row passengers can now control their seat, climate and audio settings on a new 5.8-inch digital module.

Lincoln has introduced a new Lincoln Play system with Fire TV in the 2022 Navigator to elevate the rear entertainment experience. Second-row seating is available with twin 10.1-inch screens and wireless Bluetooth headphones. The screens have multiple inputs including HDMI, USB Type-C and SD.

Passengers can watch streaming channels without connectivity while on the road with 16 GB of included built-in storage for each rear display. Each screen can show independent content or they can mirror each other. The entertainment system includes two voice remotes with Alexa to easily find, launch and control apps and shows.

The new Lincoln will also debut the brand's hands-free highway driver-assist system called ActiveGlide. It mirrors Ford BlueCruise technology and allows the driver to take their hands off the wheel on highways that the system has mapped. A camera is mounted in the gauge cluster to check that the driver is paying attention to the road. ActiveGlide will be optional on the Reserve and Black Label models, and it will come with a free three-year trial.

Lincoln has yet to release pricing for the 2022 Navigator. It it will go on sale early next year.
