'Rick and Morty' Season 4 Just the Beginning, Adult Swim Orders 70 New Episodes
Rick and Morty co-creators Dan Harmon and Justin Roiland announced Rick and Morty has been renewed for a fourth season… and a whole lot more.
Adult Swim has ordered 70 new episodes of Rick and Morty, bringing the total to over 100 episodes, presumably spread over up to seven new seasons, assuming Rick and Morty continues on its current trajectory of ten-episode seasons.
The announcement came via Twitter and Instagram posts from both co-creators, including a video of the two in the shower together, preparing to get back to work after the lengthy contract negotiations.
Roiland also posted drawings of Rick and Morty half-celebrating, half-lamenting the huge episode order. In a characteristic rant, Rick tells Morty, "70 more life threatening adventures Morty! Near death experiences Morty. Horrible things. Nightmares Morty! 70 More!"
"No Rick! No!" Morty responds. "Aw geez."
The lengthy negotiation process means there's likely to be a long wait for the Rick and Morty Season 4 premiere. While Harmon and Roiland haven't yet reassembled a writers' room and started producing new episodes, we do have a few hints as to what they've got in mind for future episodes, thanks to the commentary tracks on the Rick and Morty Season 3 Blu-ray.
